This webinar discusses strategies to use with children when they are upset. It is important to note that when children do not feel cared for or supported, the strategies will not work. As educators, we must be aware of what is occurring in children’s lives, as we will intervene differently depending on the child, as each child is different. It is easy to miss subtle anxiety signs; however, recognizing these signs may help the child before their behaviour escalates. Each child and each educator need time to calm down or to self-regulate, it is at that moment we can begin to collaborate and find a solution to the behaviour or problem. At this moment children are open to new learning opportunities and this allows educators to strengthen their relationship with the child.
